Live Call Coaching: Coach the Call You're On

Managers can’t (and shouldn’t) sit on every one of their reps’ calls.

But what happens when reps get on calls and fail to fall back on their training? Sometimes it happens when a rep runs into an objection they have not handled before or a competitor they have not heard of. Even though there is a right way to respond, they fail to do it. The answer lives in a deck, a enablement course, or a folder someone shared a quarter ago. It is not in the rep's head at the moment it is needed.

What teams do instead does not hold up, whether that’s a manager listening in and messaging the rep while they’re on the call, a 10 page long script document pulled up on another screen, or feedback in a 1:1 three days later.

Reps do not lose these moments because nobody told them how to deal with these moments. They lose them because being told and recalling it under pressure are different problems.

‍

Live Call Coaching is Here

We’re excited to launch Live Call Coaching to help reps in those exact moments.

Live Call Coaching is a panel that opens up when a rep joins a call and coaches them while the conversation is happening. It surfaces the playbook and battlecards that are proven to work, based on what the prospect is actually saying, and scores the call when it ends.

It is available today as a paid add-on to Hyperbound Perform.

‍

Support Before, After, AND During Calls

Hyperbound already covers both sides of the call. Reps rehearse with AI roleplays in Practice. Every real call gets scored and coached in Perform once it is over.

Both of those work. Neither of them helps at 11:42am when a prospect says something on a call the rep was not ready for.

That gap is not a content problem. Most teams have good battlecards. The problem is retrieval. Nobody alt-tabs to a wiki mid-sentence, so the content sits unread, the rep improvises, and the coaching that would have fixed it arrives days later when the damage has been done.

Live coaching as a category has existed for a while but mostly has not worked. Most of these tools tell the rep exactly what to say, the rep reads it off the screen, and stops listening to the person on the call. Newer reps get a little better. Everyone else gets worse, which is why most of those rollouts went quiet.

People thought better scripts would fix the problem, but each rep requires something different.

‍

What Actually Happens on a Call

The Live Call Coaching panel opens on its own when a rep joins a call. Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack huddles, dialers. There is no integration to configure and no bot that joins the meeting.

What it surfaces comes from your proven content. Battlecards and playbook checklists are made directly from the existing enablement files you upload into Hyperbound. Every card cites where it came from, so the rep knows whether they are reading the compete deck or a customer story.

From there it runs in one of two modes.

Guided Coaching shows a playbook checklist and surfaces battlecards as the conversation earns them. The checklist ticks off as the rep covers each playbook item, so whatever is still left unsaid stays visible. Battlecards come up based on what the prospect says: a competitor named, a pricing question, an objection raised. Each card is the points to make, not the words to say. It allows the rep to stay an active listener in the room, not focus on reading off a script.

Active Listening captures the language the prospect is using, as they use it. A phrase appears when they start saying something worth keeping, builds in place while they finish the thought, then locks in with the exact quote and a timestamp, sorted by what it is: a priority, a pain, a term, an acronym, a name, a turn of phrase. It becomes a library of the buyer's own vocabulary so the rep can adapt their responses to it.

Chat with Kota runs alongside both of them. Kota is Hyperbound's AI assistant, and on a live call it opens right in the coaching panel while the conversation is still going. A rep can ask it anything and get an answer with context from the entire deal, not just the last minute of talking. What did we tell them about pricing last time? What did they say they cared about at the start of this call? How do I answer that? It covers the moments no card anticipated, which on a real call is most of them.

When the call ends, the rep gets a score against the scorecards that already exist in Hyperbound, with what they hit and what they missed marked against timestamps. The follow-up is already drafted: the recap email with the right case study attached, the next meeting, and the call notes, which also push automatically to the CRM.

Then the call lands in Hyperbound alongside every other call the team runs.

How Teams Rely on It

An AE stops losing the moment.
A rep four months in is running discovery. The prospect brings up an incumbent she has not handled before. The competitor card surfaces while they are still talking, with the positioning enablement wrote and the source it came from. She answers in the conversation instead of in a follow-up email two days later, when the prospect has stopped thinking about it. Her manager did not have to be on the call.

Enablement finds out whether the content is landing.
New messaging is written, the deck went out, the certification is done. Load it into the card catalog and it starts appearing on live calls at the moments it applies. Then the post-call scoring shows which reps are reaching for it and which are reverting to what they said before. The rollout gets measured on what happened in real conversations instead of on a completion rate.

Sales leadership sees the pattern, not the anecdote.
Every call scores against the same playbook, so the gaps between top and bottom performers shrinks. If most of the team is missing the same qualification step, or the same objection keeps going unanswered across three reps, that shows up as a pattern rather than as something one manager noticed on one call. It is the difference between coaching from the calls you happened to listen to and coaching from all of them.
